Training catalogueWhich Tung acupuncture training fits your practice?
Your experience as a therapist and your experience of acupuncture are two different things.
You may be an experienced practitioner discovering Tung acupuncture for the first time. You may also have studied Tung acupuncture already, and be looking to organise, deepen or widen what you know.
You come from a practice other than acupuncture: conventional medicine, medical doctor, physiotherapist, or from the world of energetic and manual work — shiatsu, tuina, osteopathy…
You want to discover Tung acupuncture and understand how it might find its place in your own path.
A preliminary review establishes whether a training format suits your situation.
You already have your own clinical and therapeutic bearings.
You may come from TCM acupuncture, from meridian acupuncture, from correspondence or network systems, from Tung acupuncture or from other approaches.
The point is not to start again from zero, but to understand what Tung acupuncture can add to what you already know.
You know some of the points, some of the maps, some of the methods.
You want to place what you know inside a wider view, understand the different transmissions of Tung acupuncture, and have a method for relating the information.
You are not necessarily looking for a one-year course.
You want to work on one subject, study one particular transmission, or go deeper into a clinical application.
Five criteria for finding the right format
Our programmes are not organised along a simple « beginner → advanced » progression in Tung acupuncture.
An experienced therapist may be discovering Tung acupuncture for the first time. Their clinical experience will let them take some levels in faster.
Conversely, a less experienced practitioner may start by building a clinically effective practice, then gradually develop a more elaborate understanding of its foundations.

Tung acupuncture training
The Tung Lineage Institute runs several Tung acupuncture formats: a complete one-year course, a short and practical format, and specialised teaching.
A year to study the points, the sources, the Shénjīng, the meridians, the indications, the diagnosis and the practice — and to learn to relate all of it within one coherent clinical reasoning.
A short Tung acupuncture course that goes straight into practice.
Starting from concrete clinical situations, you work on the points you need, the SMI Method, the clinical reasoning and how to apply them.
The benchmark symptom runs through the whole course.
Four days to discover or deepen a Taiwanese transmission of Tung acupuncture.
The course covers point selection, combinations, protocols, palm diagnosis, bleeding and several other dimensions of the practice.
A focused clinical course on subjects of Chinese medicine, bringing together clinical reasoning, Tung acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and clinical experience.
Each session can be taken on its own.
An in-person course devoted to the study and the practice of one transmission of Tung acupuncture.
What our training is made of
Our teaching brings together research, transmission, comparison of practices and clinical application.
It is not only about handing over a set of points, but about understanding what Tung acupuncture is made of, its different transmissions, and how it can fit into an existing practice.
Tung
Define Master Tung's practice objectively, from the sources.
Our work sets out to tell what belongs to the sources of Master Tung's practice from what belongs to later developments and interpretations.
Hu · Yuan
A Tung acupuncture centred on the Shénjīng and the indications.
The transmission studied around Dr Hu Wen-chih gives a particular place to the Shénjīng 神經, to palm diagnosis and to the indications.
Young · other transmissions
Tung acupuncture developed through several transmissions.
Some of them sit at the junction with other currents, meridian logic in particular.
Studying them shows what brings the different practices together, and what sets them apart.
Taiwan · transmission · research
Direct experience, and continuous work on the sources.
Our work rests on direct experience of the Taiwanese transmission, on the study of the Chinese sources, and on continuous comparison and documentation.

They study with us
Learning Tung acupuncture is not a matter of accumulating points.
What our students talk about is understanding, clinical reasoning, teaching and putting things into practice.

Your tool for learning and for practising
A course teaches you to observe, to understand and to reason.
The Encyclopedia then lets you find that knowledge again at the moment you need it.
The Tung Acupuncture Encyclopedia gathers the points of Tung acupuncture, their indications, their relations and the available sources.
You can search, filter and explore through the dimensions of the SMI Method: Shénjīng 神經 · Meridian 經絡 · Indication 主治, along with the other documented relations.
During the course
